This Privacy Policy explains how Click Technologies LLC (“we”, “us”) handles information in the ClickVPN Connect Android application (package com.clicktechnologies.clickvpn.connect).
This policy applies only to ClickVPN Connect. The main ClickVPN service, the ClickVPN website, support conversations, and any service operated by a provider whose server or subscription you add are governed by their own applicable terms and privacy policies.
1. Summary
- Connect does not require an account and does not process payments.
- Imported VPN server configurations and routing preferences are stored locally on your device.
- Connect does not send your browsing history, DNS history, or VPN traffic content to Click Technologies LLC as analytics or application telemetry.
- To provide a VPN, traffic is processed by the VPN server specified in the configuration you import and by the configured DNS provider.
- Optional Auto routing is off on a fresh installation. If you explicitly enable it, external IP and country lookup services receive your public IP address to determine an approximate country.
- Connect contains no advertising SDK and does not sell personal information.
2. Information processed by Connect
2.1 Imported server configurations
You can import VLESS, VMess, Trojan, or Shadowsocks configurations from the clipboard or from a subscription URL. A configuration may contain:
- a server address and port;
- authentication identifiers, passwords, keys, or tokens;
- protocol, encryption, transport, and DNS settings;
- a server label or subscription URL.
Connect stores imported configurations locally in encrypted form. The encryption key is protected by Android Keystore. Android backup is disabled for the application.
Connect accepts only configurations that encrypt traffic between your device and the VPN tunnel endpoint. This does not control how traffic is handled after it leaves that endpoint.
2.2 VPN traffic
When you connect, Android’s VpnService routes device traffic according to your settings. Depending on your routing rules, traffic may:
- pass through the VPN server specified by the imported configuration; or
- bypass the VPN and use your normal network connection.
The VPN endpoint operator can process traffic routed through that endpoint, including destination information, timing, volume, and any application-layer content that is not independently protected by HTTPS or another end-to-end encryption protocol.
If the imported endpoint is operated by a third party, we do not control that operator’s logging, retention, security, or disclosure practices. Review the operator’s privacy policy before connecting. If a configuration points to a Click Technologies LLC service, the privacy terms applicable to that service also apply.
2.3 DNS queries
Connect’s current VPN configuration uses encrypted DNS services provided by Cloudflare and, for certain routing rules, Yandex. These providers may receive DNS queries, the IP address visible to them, timestamps, and standard network request metadata. Their own privacy policies govern their processing.
2.4 Optional Auto routing and country detection
Auto routing is disabled until you explicitly allow and enable it.
When enabled, Connect may contact one or more of the following services:
- api4.ipify.org;
- ipapi.co;
- ifconfig.co;
- api.country.is.
These services receive your public IP address and standard request metadata. Connect uses their response to estimate your country, display it in the app, and apply country-based routing rules.
The public IP address returned to Connect is kept in memory and is not written to persistent storage. A derived country code and the resulting routing preference may be stored locally so the selected routing behavior remains consistent. Disabling Auto routing stops monitoring and clears the in-memory country result.
The country result is approximate and may be incorrect because of carrier routing, NAT, proxies, another VPN, or provider data.
2.5 Subscription URLs
When you choose to import a subscription URL, Connect requests that URL directly. The subscription provider receives the IP address visible to it and standard request metadata. The URL may contain a private access token; Connect stores it locally as part of the encrypted server configuration.
We do not control the subscription provider’s processing or retention practices.
2.6 Clipboard
Connect reads clipboard text only when you press the clipboard import action. It extracts supported server configurations from that text. The clipboard content is not sent to Click Technologies LLC.
2.7 Installed applications and split tunneling
Connect may read package identifiers and labels of applications visible to it through Android. This is used to display split-tunneling choices and determine which applications should bypass the VPN.
The visible application list and your exclusions are processed locally. Selected package identifiers are stored locally in encrypted form and are not sent to Click Technologies LLC.
2.8 Connectivity checks and routing data updates
After a tunnel starts, Connect may make small requests to connectivity-check endpoints operated by Google, Mozilla, or Cloudflare to confirm that the tunnel can reach the internet. Those providers receive the IP address visible to them, the request time, and standard request metadata.
Connect may periodically download public domain and IP routing databases from GitHub releases maintained by the v2fly projects. GitHub receives the IP address visible to it and standard request metadata. The downloaded routing files contain public routing rules, not your browsing activity.
3. Local application data
Connect stores the following on your device as needed:
- encrypted imported server configurations and subscription URLs;
- encrypted split-tunneling package selections;
- selected server and routing preferences;
- theme and interface preferences;
- notification prompt state;
- VPN disclosure and Auto routing consent state;
- public routing database files and update timestamps.
This data is used only to operate the application. It is retained until you remove it in the app, clear the application’s storage, or uninstall Connect.
4. Information we do not collect through Connect
Connect does not send the following to Click Technologies LLC as application telemetry:
- browsing history or visited URLs;
- DNS history;
- VPN traffic content;
- connection history or connection timestamps;
- the contents of other files, photos, contacts, messages, or calendars;
- advertising identifiers;
- analytics events or advertising profiles.
Connect does not contain advertising and does not sell or rent personal information.
This section does not mean that a VPN server operator, DNS provider, website, subscription provider, connectivity-check provider, or IP lookup provider cannot receive information as described in this policy.
5. Permissions and Android access
Connect uses:
- VPN access: to create a device-wide VPN tunnel after Android shows its system consent dialog;
- Notifications: to show connection status while the VPN foreground service is running;
- Network access and network state: to establish and monitor the tunnel;
- Package visibility: to support application exclusions and split tunneling.
Declining VPN access prevents a VPN connection. Declining notifications may limit connection-status notifications but does not itself grant access to traffic.
6. Legal bases
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis:
- VPN and subscription processing is performed at your request to provide the functionality you selected;
- optional IP-country lookup is based on your affirmative consent, which you can withdraw by disabling Auto routing;
- limited connectivity checks and routing database updates are used for the legitimate interest of operating a reliable and secure application.
Third-party providers determine their own legal bases for information they receive.
7. Security
Connect uses Android platform protections, encrypted local storage for sensitive configurations and package selections, encrypted supported tunnel protocols, and HTTPS for application-originated service requests.
No security measure is absolute. The security and privacy of routed traffic also depend on the server configuration you import, the endpoint operator, DNS provider, destination service, and whether your applications use end-to-end encryption such as HTTPS.
8. Retention and deletion
Connect does not maintain a Click Technologies LLC account database for this application.
You can delete imported servers and change routing selections in the app. Clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling Connect deletes its locally stored data. We cannot delete information retained independently by a VPN server operator or another third-party provider; contact that provider directly.
9. Your choices and rights
You can:
- refuse or withdraw VPN consent through Android;
- decline notification permission;
- keep Auto routing disabled or withdraw its consent at any time;
- remove imported configurations and split-tunneling selections;
- clear all local data by clearing storage or uninstalling the app.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal information held by Click Technologies LLC. Because Connect is designed not to send identifiable application activity to us, we may have no server-side Connect record that can be linked to you.
10. Children
Connect is not designed for children who cannot independently consent to data processing under the law of their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through Connect.
11. International processing
The server, DNS, subscription, connectivity-check, routing-update, and optional IP-country providers you choose or that Connect contacts may operate in countries different from yours. Their processing is governed by their own policies and applicable law.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Connect’s behavior, providers, or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date at the top identifies the current version. If a change materially affects optional processing that requires consent, Connect will request consent again where required.
